Accessory of the week: salt shakers

My grandma has the most wonderful collection of salt and pepper shakers. Every time I visit her there’s a new set on the table, each more cute and quirky than the last.

There’s nothing like treating yourself to a lovely new accessory, and every time I wander through a charity or antique shop I always find adorable salt and pepper shakers. I’ve done some digging and found some absolute gems to share with you…

These mid-century salt and pepper shakers are similar to some that my grandma has. I love them as they’re simple, timeless and will go well with any decor.

Do it yourself

These cute salt and pepper shakers made from jam jars are completely adorable, and so easy to make! I stumbled across this idea on Martha Stewart’s blog. Just use a marker pen to determine where your holes are and pierce the lid with a pushpin – voile!

Pottery Barn

You don’t need to buy vintage salt and pepper shakers to add a bit of life to your dining room – Pottery Barn and John Lewis do some beautiful pieces, like these partridge in a pear tree shakers. They’re an adorable table accessory and not too expensive either!
